Class 5
This term will be a big one for Class 5!
SATs assessments for Year 6s will be on week beginning 11th May – and we will revise alongside our work before then. Please revise with the Year 6s as much as possible at home before this. Also, a good night’s sleep and good diet will be essential for the Year 6s on this week.
Our Topic this term in South America – children will learn the countries, their social issues, their human and physical features and how it compares with Devon: exploring population trends, wildlife biodiversity, rainfall and much more. We will explore the enigmatic Inca people and the mysteries they left; what were the Nasca Lines for?
Literacy will follow our Wind in the Wall story: why would a ghost be obsessing over growing pineapples? And a range of reading books will explore poetry and adventures across the world, preparing the children for future explorations themselves!
Maths will complete the curriculum by exploring angles, measure and graphs. Once that is complete and SATs are over, we will investigate the natural world using all our Maths skills. Children will budget for a holiday for Mr Young, paint houses and start their own businesses – alongside reading timetables ready for Year 7.
After SATs, we will turn more theatrical. We will select our school play and children will have the half term to prepare with the script ready to audition for their roles in the end of year play.
Overall, it will be a great end of the year!
